One prevalent issue is the incorrect linkage of Aadhaar with the PAN number, hindering the completion of the linking process. To resolve this, it is recommended to delink the incorrect PAN first and subsequently link the correct PAN and Aadhaar for seamless processing. REASONS TO DE-LINK PAN WITH AADHAAR:

1. Multiple PANs: If multiple PAN cards have been mistakenly issued to you by the authorities, it is crucial to delink Aadhaar from the duplicate PAN to comply with regulations and avoid penalties.

2. Duplicate PAN: If multiple individuals are assigned the same PAN number, it is necessary to delink Aadhaar from the duplicate PAN to avoid penalties for holding multiple PANs.

3. Incorrect linking: Errors in the linking process, such as linking one person’s PAN to another person’s Aadhaar, require the essential step of delinking Aadhaar from the incorrect PAN to ensure accurate tax filing.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO DE-LINK AADHAAR WITH PAN:

Before initiating the delinking process of Aadhaar with PAN card, it is important to have the following documents ready:

1. Original and photocopies of your Aadhaar and PAN cards.

2. A copy of the grievance letter, if applicable.

3. Updated history of your PAN and Aadhaar cards, if any.

4. Applicant’s email ID (if provided), postal address, and contact details must be provided.

5. A colored copy of the Aadhaar Card should be sent via email.

6. Update history of Aadhaar from the applicant or PAN Card holder.

HOW TO DE-LINK PAN WITH AADHAAR:

If Aadhaar Is Linked to a Deactivated PAN and the Holder Has Two PAN Cards:

1: Download the mobile application of the Income Tax Department and perform a CBN query to check the status of both your PANs.

2: If the cards are active and under the process of de-duplication, contact the Income Tax Assessing Officer with a request.

3: If delinking is necessary, submit an application with the documents to your nearest office of the Income Tax Department.

If a PAN Card Has Been Linked to Another Person’s Aadhaar Card:

1: Contact your PAN service provider and collect the processing details of your PAN.

2: Request an Audit Log from ITBA through the RCC and analyze it to identify the reasons for this issue.

3: If required, apply to de-link your Aadhaar and PAN by submitting an application with the necessary documents to your nearest office of the Income Tax Department.

If More than One Person has Received the Same PAN:

1: Contact your PAN service provider to obtain the processing details of your PAN.

2: Request identification of both initial and subsequent allottees of the PAN card and gather a detailed report.

3: Analyze the report and decide whether delinking is necessary. If required, apply to the Income Tax Department of India with the relevant documents.

4: Once your application is evaluated, the authorities will issue a new PAN to the subsequent allottee.

If a User is Unable to Link Aadhaar on the e-Filing portal:

1: Run a CBN query on the ITD application and gather a detailed report of the results from RCC officials.

2: After verifying the facts, forward the information to the e-Filing team via email. The RCC team will assist in linking your Aadhaar to the retained PAN.

The RCC team will issue instructions to the service providers to process pending applications. To avoid issues with the link between Aadhaar and PAN cards, you must complete the delinking process by submitting your application and documents to the Tax Department.
